The first and foremost thing you should check is the compatibility of your car with Apple CarPlay.
People often get their hands on the latest iPhone, but their car isn't compatible with Apple CarPlay, which creates a problem, so if you haven't already, then make sure to check the list of cars that are compatible with Apple CarPlay.
If your car is not on the list, then, unfortunately, there is no way you can use Apple CarPlay in your car unless you buy a new car or an aftermarket head unit for your current vehicle.
Still, If your Apple Car Play is not working, It is recommended that you keep your iPhone up-to-date with the latest iOS software as it not only adds new features to your phone but also fixes bugs that might be causing problems.
To update your iPhone, go to Settings -> General -> Software Update and install the available updates.
After updating your iPhone, try using Apple CarPlay again and see if it works. If not, then move on to the next solution.
If your Apple CarPlay is not connecting, check the connection between your iPhone and the Apple CarPlay stereo. Ensure the Lightning cable is correctly plugged into your iPhone and the stereo. Also, try using a different cable to see if that makes a difference.
If you're using wireless CarPlay, make sure that your iPhone is within the stereo range and that there are no obstructions between them. If you have obstructions, try moving your iPhone closer to the stereo.
You should also ensure your iPhone is not in low power mode. If it is, then CarPlay will not work. To turn off low power mode, go to Settings -> Battery and tap the toggle next to Low Power Mode.
You need to have Siri enabled for CarPlay to work.
To do this, go to Settings -> Siri & Search and ensure that the toggle next to Siri is turned on.
After enabling Siri, you may have to restart your iPhone for the changes to take effect.
If Siri is still not working, try force quitting the app and restarting your iPhone. Double-click the Home button to force quit an app and swipe up on the Siri App card. Just make sure you have the "hey Siri" feature enabled.
The reason why Apple CarPlay might not be working could be because you have not permitted it to run in the background.
To do this, go to Settings -> General -> Background App Refresh and make sure that the toggle next to CarPlay is turned on.
Sometimes, the easiest way to fix a problem is also the most obvious. If you're still having trouble with CarPlay, try disabling it and then re-enabling it.
To do this, go to Settings -> General -> CarPlay and tap the button next to "CarPlay" to turn it off. Once it's been turned off, wait for a few seconds and then tap the button again to turn it back on.
It is possible to restrict what can be used with Apple CarPlay. If you have such restrictions in place, it could be one of the possible reasons the CarPlay isn't working properly.
To check if this is the case, go to Settings -> Screen Time -> Content & Privacy Restrictions. If the toggle next to "Content & Privacy Restrictions" is turned on, tap on it and then make sure that "Allowed Apps" is set to "Don't Restrict Apps."
If you have a USB restricted mode turned on, it could be another possible reason your Apple CarPlay is not working.
To turn off USB restricted mode, go to Settings -> Face ID & Passcode -> Enter Your Passcode. Scroll down and look for "USB Accessories." If the toggle next to it is turned on, tap on it to turn it off. This should fix the problem.
If you've tried all of the above solutions and your Apple CarPlay still isn't working, the next step is to restart both your car and your phone. Hold the power button to restart your iPhone until "slide to power off" appears on the screen. Once your iPhone is turned off, turn it on by holding the power button again. As for restarting your car, consult your car's manual, as the process can vary depending on the make and model.
If you're still having trouble with Apple CarPlay not working, you may need to factory reset your iPhone. This will erase all the data on your phone, so back up your files before proceeding.
To factory reset your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Once your iPhone has been reset, try setting up Apple CarPlay again.
