Jodie Foster has been tapped to star in one of the lead roles in HBO's True Detective Season 4.

The new anthology series of crime episodes began production in March 2022, as previously reported.

The following summary is from Season 4, as published by Variety. 'When the long winter night falls, Ennis Alaska, six men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station disappear without a trace. The case will be solved by Liz Danvers (Foster), Detectives, and Evangeline Navarro, who must confront their own darkness and uncover the unsettling truths hidden beneath the eternal ice to solve it.

Foster's roles in The Accused (hellooo Clarice ...),) are well-known. Both of these films earned her an Oscar for best actress. She was also a director for Orange Is the New Black, for which an Emmy nomination was received.

Barry Jenkins will executive produce the new season of True Detective with Issa López attached as writer, executive producer and director. Alan Page Arriaga also will executive produce and write the script. Foster, Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak from Pastel will all executive produce alongside Jenkins. Anonymous Content, previously attached to previous seasons, will executive produce the series along with Nic Pizzolatto, Woody Harrelson and Cary Joji Fukunaga, Season 1's creator.

In 2014, the first series debuted with Harrelson starring McConaughey. Season 2 debuted in 2014 with Harrelson and McConaughey as the stars. Season 2 was aired in 2015. Season 3, which starred Mahershala Al and Stephen Dorff was aired in 2019.

True Detective was nominated so far for 23 Emmy Awards in all seasons. It also won five awards during its first season.
