Herbert deduces the agreement easily and painlessly, and chooses to remain silent. It's there where they explore the filthy side of sexuality with those genuine dolls and Byron's obsessive devotion, emphasizing how strange a patriarchal culture can feel. To add to the complexity and unease, Byron and Hazel upload their consciousnesses onto a digital network, where they fall in love all over again—and eventually desire to become embodied, believing they are more deserving because they are connecting better than their living counterparts.
Season two succeeds in creating an equally complex collection of events that force each character to face Hobson's Choice, or the decision you make when you have no other options. Even as the audience waits for an enviable sad conclusion from which no escape was ever imaginable, this series excels at keeping the audience entertained.
