Twisters sets 2024 release date
This is the wonders of nature baby! Universal Entertainment and Amblin Entertainment announced that the audience can return to the suckzone on July 19, 2024 as Twisters blows its way into theatres.
After word started to spread in Hollywood last week about the possibility of a deal being struck with Lee Isaac Chung to direct the sequel to 1996's cult film Twin . Hollywood veteran Frank Marshall will also board the project, which is co-financed and produced by Warner Bros. Chung is set to direct from a screenplay which has been written by Mark L. Smith, who co-wrote the adapted screenplay of Alejandro G. Iñárritu's The Revenant. Chung's work on Minari earned him a nomination for Best Director at the 2022 Academy Awards.
Universal's original film Twister was an enormous commercial success. It earned a staggering $500 million worldwide and caused havoc at the box office. The movie was written by Michael Crichton and Anne Marie Martin. It featured a couple that had been separated for years but reunited to end their separation just in time to catch a rare storm front to allow them to chase an EF-5 tornado through Oklahoma. Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt were the lead characters in the movie.
Hunt is the character of a student who leads a team that has been underfunded and built a machine that, using Paxton's design, can collect data within tornadoes. However, to be able to use it, they must get up close to one. Bill is thrilled to discover that Dorothy has been created and joins the team.
Also, the film featured a vibrant ensemble cast that included Cary Elwes and Jami Gertz, Jeremy Davies , Jeremy Davies and Philip Seymour Hoffman. These actors provided comic relief as well as the best lines. It was so well-received that Universal even created a separate attraction for it at their theme parks all over the globe. Twister: Take It Out! The attraction featured special effects and guests were treated to a tornado simulation on a stage. They also received wind and water effects. Hunt and Paxton reprised their roles in the attraction.
Hunt previously presented her original idea for a sequel. She revealed it in 2021. However, the studio turned down her proposal due to the death of her character in the movie. Deadline claims that Hunt is expected to return for the sequel to the legacy. Sources claim the plot will revolve around Hunt's daughter with Paxton, who is now a storm chaser, just like her parents.
Twisters opens in theatres July 19, 2024.
